SERVICE
Q. Do you offer boat service and repairs?
A. Yes. We have full-service departments at multiple locations, including the largest service department on Grand Lake and on Beaver Lake. Our certified technicians service Mercury, MercCruiser, Volvo, and Yamaha engines. We are open 7 days a week during boating season.
Q. Do you service boats you did not sell?
A. Our customers who purchased their boat from Arrowhead receive priority service — that is part of what it means to buy from us. We also service the brands we carry for all customers, but if you want to be at the front of the line, buy your next boat from Arrowhead.
Q. What routine maintenance does my boat need every year?
A. The core annual service items for most boats are an engine oil change, drive service, and a visual inspection of key systems. An impeller — the rubber pump that keeps your engine cool — should be replaced at least every two years, though many experienced boaters do it annually for peace of mind. General guidelines are an oil change every year or every 100 hours of use, drive service every year, and impeller service every one to two years. Every manufacturer is a little different, so always verify the specific requirements for your boat and engine. Staying on schedule matters not just for the life of your boat, but to remain within your manufacturer’s warranty coverage.
Q. How do I stay within my manufacturer’s warranty on service?
A. Manufacturer warranties typically require that your boat be serviced according to their recommended schedule — things like annual oil changes, drive service, and impeller replacement on the correct intervals. If those service intervals are missed, you risk voiding your warranty coverage. Each brand has its own specific requirements, so it is important to know what your manufacturer requires and stick to it. Our service team is certified on the brands we carry and can make sure your boat stays on schedule and your warranty stays intact. Arrowhead customers receive priority service scheduling — another reason buying from us matters beyond the day of purchase.
COMPANY
Q. How long has Arrowhead been in business?
A. Arrowhead was founded in 1972 by Joe Harwood and remains family-owned and operated today.
Q. What is Marine Pure gasoline?
A. Marine Pure is Arrowhead’s branded marine gasoline, available in 87 and 91 octane as well as diesel at our marina fuel docks. We also offer pump-out services.
Q. Do you have slip rentals available?
A. Yes. We offer slip rentals at five marina locations on Grand Lake. Slip sizes range from 25 to 60 feet. Amenities vary by location.
Q. How much does a boat slip rental cost at Arrowhead?
A. Slip rentals at Arrowhead’s Grand Lake marinas are priced between $8 and $11 per linear foot per month. As an example, a 30-foot slip would run between $240 and $330 per month. If you need a lift, you have two options — own your own lift with no additional rental fee, or rent one of ours. Lift rentals range from approximately $100 to $250 per month depending on the size of your boat. Contact us for current availability and specific pricing at each marina location.
Q. What is the annual cost of owning a boat?
A. For a single-engine boat, most owners budget between $1,000 and $2,000 per year for routine maintenance and service. Beyond service, plan for annual state registration fees, boat insurance (typically less than 1% of the boat’s value per year), fuel costs, and winterization if applicable. Many of the brands we carry have simplified winterization systems, and outboard motors generally do not require winterization at all. Every boat is different — when you buy from Arrowhead, we walk you through all of this during the buying process so you are informed, not surprised.
Q. What is the total cost of boat ownership beyond the purchase price?
A. After your initial purchase and state sales tax, plan for: annual state registration fees; boat insurance (typically less than 1% of the boat’s value annually); routine service ($1,000–$2,000 per year for a single-engine boat); slip rental if storing at a marina ($8–$11 per linear foot per month at Arrowhead’s Grand Lake locations, plus lift rental of $100–$250 per month if needed); fuel; and winterization. The honest answer is that total ownership cost depends heavily on what kind of boat you buy and how you use it. When you buy from Arrowhead, we sit down with you and walk through all of this before you sign anything — because an informed customer is a happy customer, and happy customers come back.
